About
Travelers flock to these artificial lagoons along the western coast of Oahu to swim, snorkel, and paddleboard in the calm, crystal clear, turquoise waters and bask in the Hawaiian sun. Book a boat tour of the lagoons to learn more about the area's history and marine life, and take in the beautiful Hawaiian sunset with a stroll along the beach. The lagoons are a 30-minute drive from the city—arrive early to secure a parking spot or get a shuttle bus in. Stay at one of the seaside resorts to make the most of it, and visit during the warmer months from April to October. – Tripadvisor

Lagoons were incredible. Go early. Get there before nine as parking is very tough to get. We went in the morning and later in the afternoon. Lagoon 4 was a wonderful place to snorkel

First time going to these on the way to Electric Beach. Went to #4 and got like the last parking spot. Go early! Nice little secluded manmade cove for keikis. Didn't go in the water, Did meet a wonderful sweet lady named Edna.

Man-made lagoons in the Ko Olina development located in the southwest corner of Oahu. Several popular resort hotels are located here including Aulani Disney Resort, the Four Seasons, and Marriot's Ko Olina Beach Club. Although there is an artificial feel to it all, the flat walking path that runs along the lagoons offers beautiful views especially at sunset. With that said the views of the power plant to the south are not overly inspiring. Lagoon #1 is open to the public and the other three lagoons are used by guests of the resorts located on each one. Lagoon 4 at Aulani and the Four Seasons was definitely the most crowded, packed with people. I didn't get a chance to try the snorkeling as the waves were crashing in when we were there in March. The beaches were nice enough, but I much prefer the beaches along the North Shore or even Waikiki.

This is a great spot to picnic and swim. The water is really calm. There isn't much shade so bring sunblock and an umbrella.

I only snorkeled in lagoons 2 and 3. Lagoon # 2 was very good. I saw many different kinds of tropical fish, an eel and even a few live coral. Not many fish in lagoon #3

Such a beautiful location and lots of fun to play in the lagoon or use the walking path that goes between them. We stayed at aulani and this mostly used the one near it.

Murky waters - "dirty" with sand and leaves that blow in and have nowhere to go but likely just because they are man-made and the sand is constantly being stirred up by the waves. Good for small children because of the calmness but not ideal for swimming and no good for snorkeling

We visited lagoon 4, which from an aerial view appears to be the smallest of them. The lagoon was plenty big enough for us to be able to swim without being crowded unlike Waikiki. The lagoon is definitely calm so there was no use for our boogie boards. We did bring goggles and so glad we did! We were able to swim and see so many beautiful fish, this was literally one of the highlights, besides the amazing sunset. Lagoon 4 does not have security, lifeguards, or any chairs/umbrellas which made for a nice quiet day at the beach. Bathrooms were clean and they have outdoor showers to wash up. We picnicked up on the grass and then went down into the lagoon for a total of about 3-4 hrs.

The lagoons are so peaceful and spacious, yet you can watch the amazing waves crashing against the rock barriers. Perfect sunsets here. Lots of sandy beach area but also grassy areas where you can also relax.

The water was very dirty at Disney lagoon - bits of rubbish floating around and it's too controlled. People blowing whistles at you when the "Moana" boat comes in; monitoring every move anyone makes.

There's no parking available because staff fill the minimal spots available to public - apparently the resorts charge staff to park in their parking lots (strange and petty)?

Ko Olina doesn't want you there unless you are paying for an overpriced, over-crowded resort and they make it very clear.
