This is one of the most well organized museums on the map. Everything is displayed in a logical order. It's also nice to be able to take pictures without feeling like a felon. The staff is friendly and helpful.

This used to be the public library in SF; and you would never know it! one of the most visually dynamic buildings you will ever see.... and it houses a treasure of ancient asian artifacts! (Of course!)
We really enjoyed the museum. Especially the second floor with not only many paintings and a movie about how they are made. It was educational and very fun. Cheap too!
The cafe is surprisingly good also. We often eat lunch here, and you don't have to pay for the entrance fee to eat lunch at the cafe. There's outdoor, patio seating and that is rare at Civic Center. Close to the farmers market on Wednesday's. You may have to avoid the less savory characters, but it's not too bad.
The museography is really well done, the building is gorgeous and the collection is huge ! and if you go there on a thursday night it's cheaper and you can stay 'till 9pm
Great exhibit. Told the whole history of the 1st emperor up to the
building of his tomb. Went in great detail about the differences in
the type of terra cotta warrior and the meaning behind each.
Took friends advice and started at the last hall (3 halls) and did
the tour backwards. Much better this way. Last hall had the...

We went for the Terra Cotta Warriers of China exhibit in mid May, 2013. No problem getting in withouta reservation in the morning just as it opened. Beautifully presented, with several informative videos that were silent, but told the astonishing history of these artifacts clearly. Afterwards we toured some of the other floors, and although I'm not an Asian art...

We enjoyed the Asian Art Museum. Very interesting to see the differences in the art from different Asian countries. The layout is very nice and the quality of exhibits is super. Very reasonable entrance fee.
Large, variable holdings. Well organized, beautiful galleries. I came for the special exhibit and was pleased to stay for the main collection. A premiere North American art museum.
We had no reservation, which was our fault. The line seemed endless, going around the corner of the street, and we could not get in on the last day of the exhibit. Lesson: do not procrastinate.
