Mostly in fog...not golden at all but gets the name from the bay. Also not the longest bridge by far connecting san Francisco. Certainly not something I would put on my visit schedule.Over rated.

Stopped many times at the area on the north side. Didn't know about the gift shop, cafe and other displays on the south side. It was nice to see another view. Weather was as expected very windy and chilly. We took Muni (bus) from Fisherman's wharf and it was a breeze.

Make sure to either walk or ride a bike across the bridge. By doing either of these it gives you a good perspective of how long the bridge span is and how high above the water. Looking down is very intense. The views of the city are also spectacular. We walked across, the only downside is the noise of the... More

We happened to walk over it on a non foggy day so we really enjoyed it. It is chilly and windy on the bridge so make sure you dress appropriately.

I walked over the bridge while doing a volksmarch (google it) from the presidio. Nice trail that took me over the bridge on a pretty nice day with sun and some haze in the background. I'm happy you can still walk across the bridge. Yes, it's beautiful to see, but really, it's just a bridge across the straits. Don't bother... More

Mark Twain was right... the coldest winter I've ever spent was a summer in San Francisco. I loved coming to see the Golden Gate Bridge. It's such an iconic American locations but definitely bring a jacket because it's windy and cold!

The first thing i saw at our arrival at San Francisco was the Golden Gate Bridge with the charactiristic red colour. It's really beautiful. It's the connection between Suasalito and San Francisco. In front of the bridge is the statue of Joseph Strauss, an ambitious but dreamy engineer and poet who was the creator.Te Golden Gate Bridge is the most beautiful,... THis is a must see when in "The City"; and if you can go on a day when it is foggy..... there is nothing quite like it.
