This was a very interesting and informative tour. The house is wonderful with all of its detail and beautiful antiques. Our tour guide was fun and full of great information! Enjoyed the exhibition and video. Great way to spend a couple or 3 hours!

This was a most interesting place to visit. Right in downtown, interesting tour, and inexpensive to visit.
Not being a particular fan of Thomas Wolfe, I did not know whether I would be so interested in this. I went because my husband wanted to go. Turned out to be a great choice, even though almost everyone on tour was over 70, suggesting only older persons would be interested. Not so! First, if nothing else, this place has...

Enjoyed the tour of the house very much, as it gives an insiders view on life in the early 1900s, as well as Thomas Wolfe's life. The visitors center contained some interesting artifacts and information.
If you're a fan of Thomas Wolf this house worth the visit. The guide was amusing and the house has a lot of history in it.
We really enjoyed visiting this part of Asheville history and thought everything was very well done. The film about Thomas Wolfe's life was informative, and the shop had a very good display on the walls of his life as well. We really loved going through his mother's large boarding house, where he grew up. Our guide (lady with the red...

Interesting intro flick, and great guide in the house. His mother was also an interesting, independent lady for her the time. Bought Look Homeward Angel to learn more about Asheville.
We visited one morning after breakfast, watched a 20 minute video (well done, important even though the guide may repeat some info) and then took a tour of the surprisingly big house. You certainly learn a lot about Thomas Wolfe- his whole family is a big part of the story- but the star of the house show may be Tom's...

I loved Thomas Wolfe's books. You can buy them at this site, but they are wayyyyyy overpriced. There is a small exhibit of rooms and artifacts from his life that is worth a look, and I'd suggest budgetting 20 minutes in all. I skipped paying for a tour of his family's boardinghouse. I do remember quite a bit about it...

We visited Asheville a few years ago and did the Biltmore thing which was nice and pricey. This trip was just a getaway to go somewhere and do things different then we normally do. I searched the net and found this place. My wife loves old Victorian style houses (we live in one) and furnishings. Although we did not know...
