Recently visited the Empire State, did it as part of a tour so didn't have to queue the security is airport style. Staff dressed like Disneys Tower of Terror ride, this made me nervous about the elevator ride lol.Overall it was ok but Top of the Rock was in my opinion better.

Its a great view, no doubt about it, but you must research to find the best times when the crowds are smaller, thus a shorter wait to get to the top. Assume that summer, around xmas and Easter breaks are all heavy tourist times.
