Book in advance for amateur night - it was great to see the Apollo Theatre with all its history and experience the fun of amateur night first hand. The talent wasn't that great, but the host gets the audience involved. Just as good as seeing a broadway show! More

I grew up in East Harlem and I always visit the Apollo to show support. It is a nice place it has been in Harlem for so many years now and I have so many memories there, like my start at the NYPD. The theatre is not extremely big but nice and quaint. More

The Apollo was much smaller than I expected. It is impossible to have a bad seat. More

To be in the same theatre as some die hard locals and supporters of the amateur talent on show was a great experience. The compere does a great job in in getting the audience in a groove. Some of the acts are poor, some are great. Anyway the Apollo is part of r& b history. One could almost smell James... More

Like any significant historic site, it is savored best when the visitor has information. I have long wanted to go to this historical music palace. As a baby-boomer I rocked and strutted to R&B; it took me from girl to woman. In my adult years I became acquainted with the Duke, Sarah Vaughan, and all the greats of that era.... More

You will never feel bad again and be thankful its not you on stage as as the merciless audience selects thier favorites by booing the house down! Check with the theater for any special rates for local residents or any other reason they may have to provide a discount. More

The Apollo tour was the highlight of our trip to NYC with our grandchildren. I had visited it many, many years ago and wanted to share my memories with the girls. The tour guide, Billy Mitchell, was inspiring. My youngest granddaughter and I performed a joke in front of our group. She will not forget the experience of performing on... More

We had ben warned by a New Yorker that the amateur night was " too commercialised " - maybe in his experience but not ours. Booked tickets on - line from Australia after reading about the night on TA. Fabulous experience - compare - Capone - really motivated the crowd into participating in crtiiquing the acts - some wern't so... More
