If you're in to history, there are some interesting items here. Try to take the tour if possible - if it's the same fellow that gave ours, he's a wealth of stories and really seems to enjoy the tours.
All I can say is, you need to see the history of Fort Smith! It is quite impressive and interesting. The staff are helpful and the grounds are beautiful. Prices are cheap for the history lesson you will recieve.
Nice treat when combined with museum. Kids enjoyed stories behind the gallows. Made it all come to life for them. Take the time to really know the stories and people that came through here.
Walk into the past. You'll be amazed at how life was lived back then. The old fort is like being there when the men first landed, listening to them talk, you feel like your one of them.
Situated on a pretty site on the Arkansas River immediately adjacent to downtown Ft.Smith, it I pleasant place for a walk. The exhibits are engaging and informative. If in the area it is definitely worth the time.
