Upscale jazz bar with live music in the beautiful Hotel Monteleone. Actual carousel bar rotates. Great place to go after dinner if you are not into Bourbon Street.
We stopped here for a pre dinner cocktail. We couldn't get a seat at the Carousel but it was worth it just to stop by and see it. We did end up getting a table in the bar area which was still nice and they had great music.
My boyfriend and I were looking for somewhere to grab some cocktails one evening, and the concierge in our hotel recommended this place to us. My husband and I were looking for some good jazz. I knew that the carousel bar was a recommended place to go so we decided to stop by. On a Friday night the place was packed. Great place to stop by and try a sazerac or other classic NOLA cocktail. Be careful if you get up to go to the bathroom, though, because when you come back, your drink won't be where you left it, as the bar keeps rotating!
I love this old school carousel bar that turns while you enjoy your favorite libations! The atmosphere is perfect and food on the bar menu is really good! No one else makes a Pimms Cup as good as Jonathan, I'm hooked!!
Charming place, great music and wonderful service. Nice size drinks. Entrance through Monteleone hotel, off of Royal St.
This is the famous carousel bar. And yes it actually moves. Worth a stop and a drink to see this unique moving (slowly) bar at the hotel monteleone. Service was a little slow but this was a real curiosity.
Went with a group of friends tonight, and had a great time. There was a crowd, but we luckily were able to get seats for five at the carousel portion. They have a great drink menu, and the ambiance is one of kind. Highly recommend!
While I have yet to ask for anything overly spectacular at the Carousel- I've had some decent more basic drinks from them...i.e. a nice martini. The bartenders are also usually pretty nice and attentive. The real star is the bar itself...if anything, just pop in to check it out and grab a beer so you can say you've taken a... More
