This is the 2nd year I have taken my 6th graders here as part of a two-day Civil War trip. The White House tour is well done and the museum experience was made more fun due to a Scavenger Hunt that the students completed in pairs.

The Museum of the Confederacy and the Southern White House are side by side in downtown Richmond and well worth a visit. Parking is easy and inexpensive at a garage half a block away at VCU Hospital. The Museum of the Confederacy was a very worthwhile stop in Richmond and gave us a sense of the mindset of the Confederates. The exhibits are artfully displayed and very informative. Be sure to take the White House Tour if you visit.

A sumptuous collection of furnishings considered the best in the world at that time. Charm is defined in the house where children had no rules yet Generals made them.

This musuem is over shadowed by the hospital...but still stands strong. One can explore Confederate history in depth with different displays.

Make sure to take the audio tour - having visited the battlefields for two days, the museum was a perfect way to tie up all the losses ends. The exhibits are amazing.

We spent a delightful morning here (once you get over the discomfort of this shrine to the Confederacy being located in the middle of a hospital complex that seems to mainly be staffed by African Americans).
