Interesting to read about the idea and the construction and very nice to see the impressive sculptures but it's difficult to understand how it became a national monument and why! Perhaps you have to be a US citizen to "get it" but it seemed more Disney than real life to us. More

When we visited it actually snowed, nonetheless it was well worth the visit. To see these things in real life is amazing. The visitor centre was nice and warm with some good old hot coffee. More

Mount Rushmore lives up to all expectations and more. Suggest an evening visit starting about 6:00 PM. Plan on staying for the patriotic presentation starting at 9:00 PM and the lighting of the mountain. This is followed by veterans being asked to come to the stage for the retrieval of the USA flag. A wonderful experience. More

This national monument just inspires awe! The memorial is just more than you can imagine until you see if in person. Take the presidential trail if you can to get even closer to the monument. Excellent Visitor's Center, nice little restaurant, and museum and movie. More
