What else can you say about this beautiful drive? All the way from Nederland on the South to the intersection with Hwy 7 from Lyons on the North. Fantastic views of fourteeners. Lots of places to veer off for fishing, hiking, camping (Rainbow Lakes, Brainard Lake, Wild Basin, Long's Peak). And there was very little traffic on our mid-week drive...

This is the route to take on your way to or from Rocky Mtn National Park. It's not at all "treacherous," or as windy as some have stated....assuming you're not 80 years old, or 16 years old. There aren't really great "touristy" stops along the way, it's a nature drive and well worth it. I drove it in the clouds...

You can't beat the view from every turn. There are quite a few diversions on the way but it makes for a great way to take a little more time to get to Estes Park, and Rocky Mountain National Park than just zooming up US 36 from Boulder.
easiest way to see aspen colors changing close to Denver. Makes for great trip anytime of the year but fall is very special unfortunately that time comes with crowds of leave peepers.
Although somewhat concerned (due to recent heavy snow) when we decided to take this route, the drive was definitely one of the highlights of our vacation. The route is beautiful, winding, and very scenic, with very little traffic. I'd advise checking to make sure the road is open before taking the trip during snowy times, but it's definitely worth the...

Wow. The stunning views will take your breath away. There are small towns along the way (but not many) where you can stop for a snack or a drink. It's just out of this world. Check before you go, however, to make sure it's open, during snow season.
I love the whole state, the elk, moose cross the road and people from all over stop to take pictures. The food and shops are every where. The nicest people are in Colorado. They don't seem to have ice just snow flurries. The view from the Stanley Hotel was beautiful and we had lunch there too. Very reasonable prices.
If you do only one wilderness thing on your vacation to Colorado, this will give you an excellent example of the best of Colorado. It has all the trees and mountains that make this a heavenly state, but what makes Peak-to-Peak unique is that the road is about 9,000 feet high the whole route! This is a well maintained road,...

The roads are well maintained and the views are incredible. We go from Castle Rock to Estes Park several times a year and always go Peak to Peak. There are plenty of pull out parking spots where you can take lots of pictures. We always stop in Nederland for a short trip around the little shops there and sometimes a...
