Gorgeous views of several islands from the point near the lighthouse. It's probably half a mile hike from the parking area, so take some good boots.
There was a little more traffic than we would have liked and the rolling hills get your attention. It's definitely worth the trip down. The light house isn't impressive in size but it's a neat area to visit.

We rode our bicycles out to Cattle Point from town. It is absolutely beautiful. We saw lots of deer and a bald eagle. Left our bikes in a rack and had a great walk on a beautiful beach. Don't miss this area!
We loved it, we walked along the beach for a couple of hours, lots of information on the American and Canadian forces and where they set up camps, just extremely relaxing and beautiful
This area is less forested than the English Camp on the Northwest side of the island. There are rolling grass-covered hills and beautiful ocean views. At American Camp there are several trails through the grass and down to the water. At Cattle Point you can visit a couple of pretty beaches with lots of driftwood and views across to other... More
A wonderful landscape. Driving till Cattle point is very scenic. Cattle point is great place for picnic. If you are going for picnic there, word of caution there is no dustbin, please carry your garbage with you., cannot dump it there. Great views and some simple walks to explore the terrain. Not crowded. Close to south beach.
There wasn't a whole lot to see here. There was a picket fence and a couple of buildings. If you walk the trail you find signs telling what had been there. It was getting late so we didn't take the time to visit Grandma's cove which I here is a great little beach.
This is the southern portion of San Juan Island and really includes Cattle Point, the lighthouse, South Beach, and American camp. All of there are located within a couple miles of one another and make for a full day of enjoying San Juan island. The views are beyond description, either of the ocean with the Olympic range across the channel... More
