Plan your trip to see us by visiting our website for a full list of upcoming events, tours, and other information. The Buffalo Central Terminal opened to the public on June 22, 1929. Built by the New York Central Railroad and designed by architects Alfred T. Fellheimer & Steward Wagner, the art deco style station was built to accommodate up to 3200 passengers per hour, or 200 trains per day. The complex consists of the main concourse, a 17 story office tower, a four story baggage building and two story mail building along Curtiss Street, and the now detached train concourse. The complex sits on a 17 acre site 2.5 miles east of downtown Buffalo. The Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) was founded in 1997 to oversee the stabilization and restoration of the Central Terminal. Local preservationist Scott Field acquired the 18-acre site, including concourse, tower, and four story baggage building along Curtiss Street, from Samuel Tuchman and B.C.T Inc. for $1 plus the assumption of back taxes owed to the City of Buffalo. The CTRC is an entirely volunteer organization with no paid staff. We rely on grant money, government funds, and donations to continue work on the building and to hold public events. We are a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation. « less

What a wonderful old building. The architectural touches and the history of the trains, lots of interesting events go on there and it's worth so much more! As seen on Ghost Hunters, needs a lot of help but little by little it's improving. I can't wait to see all that's next.

The building is a landmark - it lies out at the edge of town, but it's well worth a drive out there. The building was abandoned decades ago but its sheer grandeur and scale are breathtaking. The Art Deco architecture has an industrial scale and style that reminds you of Gotham city. The desolation of the abandoned Grand Central Terminal... More

One of the most beautiful architectural treasures in Buffalo! Will take a while to refurbish, but will be worth the effort

I had a blast here for multiple parties, such as Halloween and dyngus day, for it is a beautiful old building. However it is in dire need of repair. It is also located in a shady part of town. I believe it is currently closed due to rennovation. Which is good, because all it is now is an empty shell.... More

The Buffalo Central Terminal is a beautiful place. The architecture is amazing. The area surrounding the Terminal, which is a former train terminal, needs landscaping. One of our city's hidden gems.

Nothing here near one of the worst area's in Buffalo. No reason to go here and so far not much progress on making anything happen. The area's is just degrading even more.

What an experience! When I first came to Buffalo in 1970 the terminal was actually operating. If people can go to see the Coliseum and Stonehenge, then the Central Terminal is worth saving and restoring, no matter how long it takes. Perhaps the city should put more effort into improving the surrounding neighborhood. Frustrated that politicians are so much more... More

The Central Terminal is a wonderful building that they are struggling to rehab. A lot of cool history and wonderful architecture. A bonus - ghost hunters have even "talked" to a few ghosts there :)

The place may have once been beautiful, but there is so much decay and building deterioration, I think most of it should be torn down . Keep what is useful and either rebuild or build something else in its place. Restoration at this point ,especially with the way our economy is, would be much too expensive.

Snuck in year ago before the rehabilitation started and glad I did -- only to see the amazing work that's been done so far. If you're a fan of art deco, make a visit to the terminal -- it's worth the trip.
