Take some amazing photos of our crazy buildings and toilets, our Illusion Rooms must be seen to be believed and the Great Maze, the worlds first 'modern-styled' maze, is a fascinating challenge for the whole family. Operating since 1973, this is a true Kiwi icon suitable for all ages and budgets and is a must-see on any tourist itinerary. « less

This is a quality novelty attraction. You won't have too many experiences like this. Much thought has gone into the displays here, and it has been improved even more over last 4 years or so. The Maze is entertaining ... if not frustrating - but at least there are "emergency" gates where you can bail out if you want to.... More

We had doubts about going to this kind of attraction and our doubts were correct. Some interesting things but most of it is dated and not worth the cost.

Hi jerjenne, Thanks for your review. I'm not sure what type of attraction you generally go for but if a 3D Maze (our invention), a Puzzle Centre (our invention) and 5 Illusion Rooms (2 of which we also invented) are "outdated" in your eyes I apologise for that. We have just begun a re- furb of our Hologram Hall, Gift... More

We came across this amazing attraction whilst on our trip around the South Island. We were travelling with our 10 and 5 year old boys and we both loved it. The illusion rooms are really quite clever and the maze is quite challenging for our family of novices. Once in the maze the whole family became quite competitive and ran... More

Hi Dak, Thanks for your awesome review! I'm really glad you and the boys were able to have such good fun here and that the competitive streak is alive and well for battles in the maze :) With comments like "The whole visit/experience was super fun and excellent value for money" we know we'll see you again so you can... Great stop for some brain puzzling exersise and a flat white during our travel to the south. We did both the labyrinth walk and the exposition. With the labyrinth walk we found two of the four towers, but after not finding the way to the third tower we escaped to the centre yard, as we did not want to arrive... More

We were there with our 12 and 14 year old boys and we all loved it. The illusion rooms are really clever and the maze is pretty darn good. Once in the maze the kids became really competitive and ran off to try and beat us through - they did!. Once out of the maze we sat and relaxed in... More

Hi Tom, Thanks for your fantastic review! It sounds like "boys being boys" in the maze but I'm sure you would've beaten them if you really wanted to, right!? I'm really glad you all enjoyed all that we offer here and found it reat value for money. We look forward to seeing you back at PW soon Kind regards, Duncan... More

We arrived at Puzzling World at opening time and decided to straight away try the maze. Now both myself and my boyfriend consider ourselves to be pretty good at mazes so we thought we could do this one pretty quickly. I don't think we've ever come across a more challenging one. We were there for around about two hours before... More

Hi Rachel, Thanks for your great review! Our Great Maze design is a real labour of love that my father in-law spent countless hours perfecting to make it a worthy challenge so I'm really glad you could appreciate the effort! I'm slightly concerned that you may have missed 2 of the 5 Illusion Rooms we have as "only a few"... More

We went with our 4 and 6 year olds and had a fantastic time. Lots to see and do and it definitely makes you feel disoriented and dizzy in some of the rooms (not so much for the kids though!) We did it as a day trip across from Queenstown and it was well worth the one hour drive each... More

Hi Cat, Thanks for your brilliant review! Yes indeed there is lots to see and do here so I'm really glad you made the trip over the hill to see us. Tilted House - adults suffer worse than kids due to our more established pre-conceptions of how a room should look. Plus a lower centre of gravity helps!! I'm glad... More

Very, very good for both adults and children. Inside there is a series of different rooms displaying all manner of apparently logic defying things which at their best, or maybe worst, leave you feeling truly disoriented. Ensure that you sit on the uphill slide. Outside is a maze which we worked out pretty well, until we tried to find the... More

Hi Poconut, Thanks for your outstanding review! It looks like we ticked all the boxes for you and that you gave everything (including the toilets) a go The best line I've seen in a review - "Words don't do it justice, you really need to visit" - look out for this in my next brochure print!
