This really shows the driven nature of the attraction's builder. We were here in winter and were amazed at the vision and work involved. Taking a scrubby hillside and transforming it into a place of beauty and wonder where nature is being helpd to reclaim the landscape was the highlight of our trip. Many thanks.

We turned up in a rush as we thought we had missed the train but the staff were very lovely and waited for us to kit up our kids with waterproofs as it was pouring with rain. They also provided us with some plastic ponchos and leg covers to use, the carriages have a roof but are open sided. The... More

This is a little hidden treasure. It is quite amazing what has been achieved and the highlight is knowing that the entrance fee gets poured back into conserving and renewing the native bush on the property. Lovely friendly guide and the amount of pottery detail around the track is intriguing. Views from Eyeful Tower even on a cloudy day were... More

There were 6 of us & we didn't expect our Driving Creek to be as good as it was. We loved the views from Eyeful Tower. The guide was informative & funny. Loved the art/history bit. It gets a 5 out of 5 on my Quirk Scale! We all loved it.

I honestly did not think it would be this good! Pick a clear day if you can, the views are amazing!!!! Peter the tour guide was the friendliest, most smiley man I've ever met! We learnt lots and really enjoyed the ride. Well worth it and your money seems to go to a really good cause.

We stayed in Coromandel for a couple of days to relax after 3 weeks of driving around NZ. The motel owner recommended the railway and told us a little of the history. A friend of ours is a mad railway buff, so we just had to go - even though it was showery all day. The train ride is amazing... More

We stayed in Coromandel (what a lovely town!) and our host recommended the railway trip. We had a really amazing experience. It was so lovely to go up the mountain on the train. The train ride is comfortable and smooth and the guide had the biggest smile on his face the whole time. It was so amazing to share something... More

We had a great afternoon at the Driving Creek Railway. The train ride takes in some absolutely breakthtaking vistas and the journey itself, thanks to its brilliant drivers is informative and interesting. Built almost entirely by a local artist and his various apprentices, it is a testament to ingenuity, creativity and sustainability (many of the walls are made from old... More

The railway is a delightful monument to one man's vision and achievement over many years. The narrow gauge railway has switchbacks, spirals, tunnels and even a double deck viaduct on its way up the re vegetated hillside up to the top station with excellent views from an observation tower. The commentary from the driver made for a pleasant trip.
