This place is surely a first stop to be had in Pondicherry. It is located in calm surroundings and well-maintained. It has quite a bit of history attached to it and it is one of the most famous temples in Pondicherry.

I visited this temple with my family. An elephant was standing at the entrance of the temple showering blessings on the disciples. I too stood in front of the elephant and took blessings from the elephant as my brother clicked my pics.
Remarkable temple of elephant god, Ganesh. Well maintained temple at a peaceful corner on Nehru Street, Pondicherry.
I have visited many Ganesh Temples in India but this was the only one where the temple is centrally air-conditioned. Very small temple & hardly takes 30 min for darsanam. The elephant is present on particular days and normally people take blessings. Opposite the temple, you find many shops selling gift items and ganesh statues which are on the higher...

Disclaimer... I am not a devotee of any deity either Eastern or Western so my visit was purely as a curious tourist. The temple was surrounded by the expected souvenir stands and beggers, and is in a reasonably quiet part of town, close to a neat little park and within site of the beach. A pleasent & peaceful temple very near to the beach in Pondichery. Powerful God. Vinayagar is the main deity here.

This is an incredible temple dedicated to Lord Ganesh. The walls contain images of Ganesh in all his manifestations. No photos allowed.
Last year when i visited this temple, the resident Elephant "god" was ill. She almost died. This year she was back and was actively meeting visitors and blessing everyone who gives a rupee or 2 in her trunk.
