Cherating Turtle Sanctuary is ok for a visit, but much needs to be done to improve the place for its turtles. To learn more about turtles/terrapins, best to go through Turtle Conservation Society which provides guided tours. http://www.poundthegarlic.blogspot.com/2012/05/releasing-terrapins-and-turtle.html More

visited with my kids 15, 9, and 4 when the turtles weren't hatching. Not much to this sanctuary but I would say we spent an hour looking at the turtles in the three tanks (my 9 year is a turtle nut and I had to drag her away). It is worth a stop if you are near but don't make... More

We were standing in front of the gate with a notice "Closed on Monday & Public Holidays". Pretty disappointing, we visited the mini zoo just to see a few tortoise but not the sea turtle. One of the hotel staffs enlightened our trip by informing us that a turtle egg-laying-baby- turtle-release tour can be arranged. It costs RM30 per adult... More

We had gone with the expected to see turtles laying eggs, as it was near the start of the season (June to August), and upon calling the hotels, they said this year the season came early (May), so chances were good. Unfortunately the turtles didn't turn up to lay eggs, which is part and parcel of nature, so can't complain... More

Well going to cherating to see the turtels in the sanctury is not such an good idea. They are kept in pools and to us it looked no good at all. They keep them there to release them when the are 3-4 years, then the have a good chance to survive. We unterstand the idea behind it but it looks... More

We have planned to visit the sanctuary but it was closed. It might due to public holiday and weekend. We felt disappointed. At hotel, we saw a tour for live turtle watching but it cost MYR55 per person. We decided to drive around the town and get the cheapest deal. And we managed to get MYR25 per person. We went... More

If you like to see turtle lays eggs, you should go to Cherating Turtle Sanctuary during June to August. The sanctuary is just in front of Club Med Cherating main entrance. The sea breeze at night was nice and the rangers were friendly. We went there about 10pm. From the notice board, it showed June and July are the peak... More
