"We had one day in Split, Croatia during our Eastern Mediterranean cruise (my review of the cruise is on CruiseCritic.com). After a few visits to ruins and old towns at earlier stops, we were ready for natural scenery and opted for a day trip to Krka National Park. We got a taxi from the port for si..."x of us and visited the park for about three hours.
We were so glad we did! The park is small but beautiful. The water falls were somewhat small but the number and variety were awesome. Walking around gave us so many delightful views. I strongly recommend a visit for anyone visiting the area.

"This is a huge, mostly unexplored Roman military camp that has been added to touristic map of Croatia just recently. It consists of Roman amphiteatre, Roman castrum and small, but really nice museum that holds the collection of artifacts that have been and are still being discovered there.
This sit..."e is a part of Croatian National Park Krka, so you have to pay fee to enter the complex (it varies, from $10 - $20 - depending on which sites of the park you want to see, but it is definitely worthed).
The camp was home of fourth legion, Flavia Felix... and to make it more interesting that is the very legion that Russel Crowe is mentioning in the movie Gladiator, where he says that he was the general of the Felix legions :)
The nice thing about this place is that each year you come, you will see new things as the archeaeologist are working there still and it is a live site.
Amazing! Must see for everyone that likes Roman empire, Roman culture and before all Roman military.

"No matter what the season, do not miss the dramatic waterfalls and nature trails. The river is so powerful that it enabled the first hydroelectric plant in Europe. But the glory of nature is the main attraction."
