"The dramatic ruin sits atop a hill and its a pleasant walk up, not much of the castle remains , originally built by Edward I in the 13th century. Enter through the gatehouse and you hear a recording of horses and shouting soldiers, it sets the tone well. For a small charge you can walk through the ..."surviving rooms and up to the battlements for a great view of denbigh and the countryside. You get a good view of the famous denbigh asylum from the rear as well. It's a shame there's so little historical background or information provided, you have to buy the guidebook or look on wikipedia for that. Though small its one of the best castles I've been to, theres a beautiful ambiance here.

"The castle has a fascinating history to it and is a must visit if you're in the area. The castle ruin is very well maintained and staff are very pleasant.
Worth seeking out a local volunteer guide; our visit to the castle was all the more informative thanks to the local knowledge of our guide.
Y..."ou can climb up stairs to the upper sections of the structure; the 360 degree views are spectacular and are a great photo opportunity.
Suitable for children too - the castle offers specifically targeted educational resources to catch the imagination of younger people.
Entrance fee into the main castle grounds was a few pounds for an adult.
