"Huge mosque with enormous courtyard and very pleasant and well maintained garden, which on the day was full of youths playing cricket and gardeners pruning and watering the numerous flowering bushes. The mosque was relatively free of tourists and quite peaceful.
The mosque itself is in ruins, bu..."t what remains is well preserved.
Be sure not to miss the woman’s section of the mosque. There are wonderfully overdone stubby little columns supporting the platform to which the women were confined. Presently this platform may be accessed by a little wooden staircase, but in olden times the women could enter the mosque only through their own doorway and could not descend to the floor of the main mosque with their inferior presence.
The easiest exit from the mosque is via the ramped women’s entrance rather than the steep wooden stairs
