"If you choose to go to the North of China, changbaishan mountain is definitely Roth visiting. Just be prepared for Great Wall like crowds walking up and down the stairs and the 40 minute bus ride back and forth from inside e gates of the park to the base. Still on a beautiful day, the hike up is in..."vigorating and view at the top striking. We also loved looking over to the North Korean side. For those with disabilities, for 300 yuan you can get 2 men to carry you up and down in a chair like in old china.

"We took the trip after the major holiday, so that there were not many people; we went to sightseeing from west side, which was even less crowded; but this side demands you to climb above 1,300 steps, it can be challenge for some people. We had a crystal clear day; so the view was truly stunning and ..."the lake was shinning blue. I just wish we can take some trails to get close to the natures.
Now it is easy to access to Changbai Mountain; it is only two hours flight from Beijing and the airport is located the foot of west side mountain. The hotel we stay is only five minutes drive from the airport and they picked us up; next morning we took hotel's shuttle to the park of west gate. Afterward, we transferred to park's shuttle to the location we could walk up to the summit; after seeing the lake, we took the shuttle to go to another location for the sightseeing.

"Avoid going to Changbai Mountain on any of the China's golden week! I went there on Oct 1, China' National Day. We were like ants crawling up (face almost on the front person's body! yes that close!) the slippery and steep mountian. No doubt the views at the TianChi was breathtaking, it can potenti..."ally be a disaster waiting to happen. People were pushing, there was no proper railing on edge of mountain, the ice was slippery and the van ride up was like a dare-devil stunt ride!! Make sure you've bought your travel insurance before attempting to go up and also wear shoes with good traction!! The views towards the waterfall and hot spring is beautiful. Do try the hotspring eggs. Very delicious!
