There are two ways to get to the top. A cleared pathway can be taken that is a longer distance but less treacherous then the scenic stairway path. Coordinate your visit so you can have lunch or dinner at the waterfront cafe Blue Bird which is a minute down the main road from where the turn is to the Hermitage.
