It is characterized by narrow fairways bordered by numerous dunes of grass, large traps guarding undulating greens and water on 14 of the 18 holes.The course is a challenging yet fair experience with 4 sets of tees to accommodate all ranges of experience and abilities. The staff is friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable.The Marina Ixtapa Golf Club is open from 7 am until dusk 365 days per year.

"I bought a 3-pack of rounds. Price was affordable. I found the course very challenging my first round because I didn't know where all the hazards were. The course has a lot of water but there's usually a bail out on the other side of the fairway, though you'll have to navigate the rolling mounds...." There were some dead spots in the fairways but they were in areas that were not in play, at least for me. The greens weren't the fastest, for good reason. Some greens have extreme slopes and they would probably be un-puttable if the greens were slick.
I'm a decent golfer, play to a 4 right now (used to be scratch), and I found the course challenging. I lost a few balls the first round because I hit in areas I didn't know there were hazards but the next 2 rounds, the only golf balls I lost were from bad shots.
It was very hot when I played and I was pleasantly surprised how often the beverage cart came around. I was one of the only players on the course but I was still impressed...
