We thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon at the Venetian Harbor. We loved strolling about and investigating the surrounding streets and shops.

We enjoyed our walk out to the Lighthouse along the sea wall for the view of the Lighthouse up close, the sea, and the harbor in Chania. There are two ways to walk (upper level) and lower and we varied it based on the wind the day we went and the crowd. It was a nice walk with viewing sights along the way.. Recommended, however those with mobility issues will find parts of the walk quite challenging.

Such a unique beach! In a small Bay, sorrunded by red cliffs, even with a cave among them. Also a good place just to take a walking tour around.

This small museum is the home of Eleftherios Venizelos, the man who helped remove the Ottomans from Crete, unite Crete with Athens and guide the new nation through WW1.
The museum is his childhood and adult home while in Crete. They have an interesting collection, ranging from oil paintings to the car with 60 bullet holes from an assignation attempt. It's worth a stop while visiting Chania.
The collection has signs in Greek and English. They have an app with a description of many objects written in several languages.

Worth a visit considering the one-time importance of the Jewish community. As was often the case during the wartime years, the story of the Cretan Jews did not end well – the vast majority of these unfortunate people were rounded up in 1944 and shipped off to Europe, with Auschwitz-Birkenau the ultimate destination. Fate intervened when the vessel was torpedoed by a British submarine – there were no survivors. You’ll find a small plaque commemorating this event in the garden. As for the synagogue itself, you’ll notice the original Venetian doorway on the way in, and the traditional mikveh, where traditional purification would take place. You will probably also be treated to some explanations of the workings of the synagogue by one of a team of volunteers guides

We didn’t know the monastery was closed, but was pleasantly surprised to be allowed in to walk though to see it from the outside. Beyond the gates the views over the coast. There is a hike you can do which gives sweeping and breathtaking views.

Absolutely beautiful museum, the building was constructed to serve to host the amazing collection. The presentation is up to date, they explain the history in amazing way and it leaves the trace in memory.
One should take a break at a cafeteria to enjoy the view to the city and understand why this attracted people for so many years and millennia.
