"I hired a large banca from Chindonan Resort with one other guest, the latter electing to simply walk about Culion Island.
Upon arrival at the latter I walked the short distance from the pier to the tourism office where five staff were mucking around.
I paid a rather steep (for Philippines) 250..." pesos with the English-speaking male guide accompanying me 'up the High Street' so to speak, including passing the former barangay boundary where the lepers were separated from the general island population.
The museum (in a 1930-built concrete building) is in part of what is now Culion Hospital. The guide had to arrange for a young lady to find a key (the first one failed to work) and turn on the lights in the two storey museum.
The museum is great. It neatly and gradually shows the history of leprosy (largely in Philippines, not elsewhere), the Manila residents who were made to come to Culion (what a long trip by sea that must have been), medical equipment in use, press clipopings...

"This Church is approached by numerous stone steps.
It was built in 1933 despite apprearing much older. This replaced a far older original church.
The ceiling has been beautifully painted and decorated by a professional artist.
The altar is suitably reverential.
I left a donation in the ..."box provided.
From the stairs by which one ascends to see the cannon originally installed to replace the Moors (Muslim invaders), one can view the bay which on the day in question I observed looked attractive despite the inclement weather. On a sunny day I am sure that it would look idyllic. The lepers used to swim below the Church.
