Not only is this an astounding setting for a meal (or any occasion!) the food and service were second to none. Service was prompt but not pushy; we were keep up to date with what was happening and the intervals between being seated and being expected to be ready to order were perfectly timed. The halloumi starter was particularly delicious - is it honey that makes it so sweet and more-ish? The two people who ordered steak at different requirements of cooking were not disappointed and the lamb was absolutely to perfection. Their Pinot Noir was superb, it goes without saying! Friendly, knowledgeable wait staff, a delightful ambience and of course those views make this a very special place indeed. Not to be missed!

The Marine Parade at Napier is a really enchanting stretch where it is possible to have a great seaside walk which is backed by an avenue of Norfolk Pines. We spent an evening just wandering along the parade, enjoying its peace and beauty.

We just had a brilliant wine tasting experience with owner Sharon at Brookfields. The wine was really good (though some of it will be even better after a few years in our cellar) and the hospitality was excellent. We’d recommend it.

We were staying a Ahuriri so walked up near the port and then headed down the other side in to Napier South. It is a good walk and worth seeing the view.

Fantastic hands-on museum. It made feel feel old seeing toys from my childhood in a museum. Don't be put off by assuming the museum is just for kids - all ages will enjoy this place from 2 - 100. For what it is it's amazingly cheap, and is obviously a labour of love for all those who look after the place.

I just loved it. I went there with my husband. We loved the track and mesmerising fall. Just wow. 🤩 we spent time with nature. It was so relaxing to see the falls.
Don’t go there if weather not permits.

We went here as part of a tour off the ship .
Not very big but well set out so easy to see everything .
Plenty of different type of fish as well as turtles, frogs. lizards, penguins and a Kiwi bird, as far as I can remember that is the first time I have seen a Kiwi Bird , after that we bought a Kiwi Bird key chain for one of the Grandsons to put on his school bag.
Well worth a visit if you like that sort of thing .

A lovely boutique winery and cellar door. We tasted a selection of their wines and left with some of each. John and Jo were great hosts, they provided lots of information about the wines and the vineyard.

Well I thought this was going to be another boring bike trail. Boy was I wrong! Starting from the Napier CBD we cycled 31km along the 4m wide bike trail along the foreshore, through the dunes, then the wetlands past Clive, then inland though the orchards to finish at Havelock North.

Throughout every 2-3km there are explanation boards about the discovery and settlement of the area. And the development of the horticultural industries.

At the 8km mark the Waitangi Park on the foreshore presents an excellent demonstration of astro navigation for transiting the Pacific Ocean as used by the early Polynesian explorers.

If you time this ride right, you can use the Havelock-Napier bus to either start or finish your journey back to the start, about a 40min bus trip. And they all have bike carriers on them. Although it will cost you at $2pp ;).
