"Gor ée Island is worth the visit .The house of slaves shows the horrible conditions that the slaves endured before being shiped. The first floor in total contrast was the luxurious lodging of the owner,a rich mulatto woman.More interesting than this house is the little visited Historical Muséum whi..."ch has serious description of the history of slavery by the various european countries not only in Sénégal but also all over Africa, plus a panel of major Historical African leaders both famous or infamous who took part in or fought the slavery. Illustrations by costumes, tools, arms give a visual idea of those Times.the visit at thé muséum bénins with an over view of prehistorical discoveries.

"This in my opinion is the only tourist attraction worth seeing in Dakar. It is just a short ferry ride from the mainland and leaves from the port of Dakar. If you can try to find a guide and share with someone else. It is well worth it. "
"Worth the visit of this massive statue of "communist" architecture, however it is the tallest one in Africa with its 49 meters of height and not in the world (there are statues up to 120 meters in height).
The view of Dakar is spectacular and you can get an idea about how far the city spreads.
Cli..."mbing the stairs can be a bit difficult.
