This tadpole-shaped rock island is the largest of five islandsbetween the historical Bataan and Cavite shores. Some geologists theorize that Corregidor was once part of a huge volcano that erupted on one side and gradually eroded to become partly invisible beneath the sea. It is called "The Rock" because it served as the major bastion of Philippine's Allies during World War II.

" EL SANTO CRISTO MILAGROSO de SINAIT and LA
VIRGEN MILAGROSA de BADOC
In this church of Sinait, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, is a life size Black Crucified Christ which is believed to have come from Nagasaki, J..."apan in 1620. The early Spanish Missionaries must have brought images for the early Japanese Christians. When Christianity was persecuted in 1597, the Japanese converts must have given away the images so as not to provoke the anger of the rulers and not to be detected as Christians.
The images of the Black Crucifix and of the Blessed Virgin Mary put in a box must have drifted in the sea till they reached the boundary shores of Sinait, Ilocos Sur and Badoc, Ilocos Norte, an adjacent town. In 1620, the Black Christ was taken to the church of Sinait and it was locally called: “El Santo Cristo Milagroso,” while the Blessed Virgin Mary was taken to Badoc church known as: “La Virgen Milagrosa.”

"We did the trek the last day in May. RBT transport picked us up in Makati City at 4:00 am sharp. The van was comfortable and with a/c. We were the only two passengers and it took about two hours to get to the starting point. We transferred to the 4x4 jeep after signing waivers and making the fin..."al payment in cash. The jeep ride took about 40 minutes to the trekking point. The terrain is rugged and the ride is rough. Once we were dropped off at the trekking point, our guide gave us some general instructions. The one way trek to the crater from the drop-off point was 7 kilometers. It is pretty much a flat hike crossing various streams so wear comfortable and waterproof shoes. Little vegetation to see around you. This was a very early hike so the sun wasn't beating down upon us as much. There are various rest stops along the way and even a very basic restroom at the base of the crater. From this point on, it's about a 30 minute walk going up. It is quite a work out but worth ...

"The Mount Pinatubo trekking was one of the highlights of our roadtrip in Luzon. I would highly recommend it to everyone who is a bit adventurous. After a bumpy ride with the 4x4 jeep you start hiking for +/- 2 hours in a "moon landscape". After reaching the crater, we swom in the crater lake, awesom..."e! The picnic near the lake was also great.
