The hike itself is tough and not to be underestimated, even by those with a good level of fitness. It is also cold: you need a scarf, beanie, thermals and rain jacket at the very least. The views are spectacular and the predawn ascent to the summit is definitely worth it. I would recommend taking the extra day to spend more time at the lake and hot springs. Other groups doing the 2 night / 3 day trek only stopped for lunch at the lake and missed out on experiencing the hot springs, a real highlight.
