"It was 4 pm when we were taken to Naha's main street, Kokusai-dori (国際通り, "International Avenue") and we spent an hour and a half shopping, eating, and strolling. Here we were able to try some products made from salt at Yukisiokabou [雪鹽菓房], which is a specialized store for salt products: salt sweets...", salt cookies, and salt ice cream. We shared an ice cream and decided to buy some salt sweets as gifts for friends. It was a very touristy street but aside from Americans from the US Bases, you hardly see any westerners. 90% of the tourists in Okinawa are from other areas in Japan. Of the remaining 10%, which is about 300,000 per annum, 120,000 are from Taiwan. At the end of the day, Japan is still for the Japanese; being so, do not expect to see many signs in English or English-speaking Japanese people. Japan is, in fact, more convenient for Chinese-reading people since Chinese characters [Kanji] are widely used. Overall, we enjoyed the time we spent there.

"Incredible experience to visit this traditional castle, even more considering the fact it has been built back from scratch looking at pictures and old drawings, the small video at the end of the visit (depsite being in Japanese only) is well worth being watched and show the dedication of Japanses to..." preserve the treasure of their past.

"Whenever I travel in Asia; the first place I visit is the local central market. The local market is always a great place to acquaint yourself with the food, culture, and politics of the local people. I was very impressed with this Okinawan cozy friendly market. The Okinawan people are very hospit..."able and this market represents the best in their local culture.
The shopping is very good and very expensive. There are a lot of different, interesting foods to sample. There are seafood restaurants that represent the best in fresh seafood. The seafood restaurants on the second floor allow you to pick out your seafood downstairs on the ground floor in the fresh seafood sections and they cook it for you in the second floor restaurants.
You will not be disappointed by these restaurants. I can still taste the seafood we brought. Parking is a problem in this area of the city; you might have to park a little bit away from the market. Then you have to walk back to the market area. ...
