"The safari park was better than I thought it would be. There is definitely a lot of walking involved, but it's worth it for the short tram ride at the back of the park. The first part you go through is similar to a zoo. On the tram ride you get in and circle the large natural environment made for..." giraffes, rhinos, wildebeests, zebras, elephants, and more. The driver tells you a little about each animal. Its cool to see them out in the open instead of behind bars. They also have a few shows throughout the day with birds, etc. I was told by someone else that the safari park was not great, but I really enjoyed it, even after already visiting the zoo.

"We thoroughly enjoyed our Mother's Day visit to San Diego Zoo Safari Park. It's a great facility with the animals in representations of their natural habitats. We enjoyed Cheetah Run – both times! It's held in a difficult location to get a good view however. The sun was hot and we did not want to st..."and there for a great length of time without shade. As it was 30 minutes before the run, there were few places left. We headed to the garden area first which was nice as there weren't very many people that did – guess they all wanted to see the animals first. Loved the epiphyllum area. So much so that we stopped at the plant shop to purchase cuttings to bring home. Unfortunately, Louis, who was working at the plant shop needs some additional training. He was unable to answer any of my questions and spent time on the phone asking someone on the other end how to do this and that and find where information was posted. This made the purchase almost excruciating unfortunately as well as time cons...

"We went on a beautiful day in May. It was sunny and cool at the same time. We didn’t go on a very busy time of the year. If visiting on a busy time, be there as soon as the park opens. It would be a good idea to start with the Africa Tram (included in ticket price) as soon as you enter. The tram..." ride was just ok but the lines can get long if you wait to get on later. Sit on the left side as most of the animals will be seen from this side. Highlight here for me was the mama and baby rhino. The baby rhino was quite active when we visited and we watched him play and run around. We found the Frequent flier bird show to be very entertaining. We are from Asia so it was our first glimpse of a condor (ugly and yet so beautiful!) and a secretary bird (I thought it got its name because of its long sexy legs ;-). Star of the show would be the intelligent and amusing African gray! Check out the time for the Cheetah Run to watch a Cheetah run full speed to catch a motorized bunny. Be th...
