Healing Springs Health Spa is wellness in symphony with spa where beauty is manifested through health and vitality. As a native of Manitou Springs, Spa Therapist Leslyn Zak has been inspired by the healing spring waters of this town and incorporates them into innovative spa treatments. The spa is located inside the BAC (Business of Art Center) which houses two art galleries, a bookstore and cafe. The building is brightly painted with chairs on the roof. There is a private lot adjacent to the building and amply free street parking on the Avenue.

At most museums, you hear, "Look with your eyes, not with your hands." Not at the outdoor exhibits at the Manitou Cliff Dwellings Museum, where you can reach out and touch ancient Anasazi buildings. Explore the authentic Anasazi structures, investigate the Pueblo-style buildings and traditional clay oven, and examine the pottery, tools, and weapons used by these ancient and mysterious peoples. Open since 1907, the Manitou Cliff Dwellings have preserved these historic Anasazi artifacts for all to enjoy for generations to come. Get a hands-on look at history that the whole family will enjoy.

"Miramont Castle is an excellent local restoration of a fascinating building. The Castle (moderate mansion really) has numerous architectural features, and has been rescued from the scrap heap by very dedicated local volunteers. The story of the original owner/designer is full of enough twists and ..."turns to keep any sleuth happy. Be sure to engage the staff as they have more back story, which makes the visit all the more enjoyable.

"Clatter from about 7,000 feet to 14,100 feet in a little over an hour. The seating on the cog rail cars isn't particularly comfortable, but nobody really seemed to care. This is an experience, not a luxury tour. Caution...if you have problems with high elevations, this may not be for you. Check ..."with your doctor before including the cog railway in your trip plans. Don't expect a good view from the top...because it seems to me that the peak is in the clouds more often than not. Don't let the negatives dissuade you, because it truly is an experience not to be missed. Oh, and those special high elevation donuts really are exceptional...but the I never met a donut I didn't like!

"My Family and took the Lantern Tour. This tour includes some additional areas of the cave which are not lighted, you carry an alcohol lantern. On the plus side, the tour is interesting, the tour guide we had was very enthusiastic and entertaining, and includes a few surprises. One of the best is ..."an opportunity to blow out all of the lanterns, and keep quiet for a few moments...what the caves are really like. One the down side, the tour is not quite what we expected. This tour is really aimed a children, as there are lots of local ghost stories, and theatrics by the guide.
The additional areas you visit are part of the original tour (ie 100 years ago), and are not very extensive. You spend too much time standing listening to another story about "George" and not enough time exploring the cave. The lanterns are a mixing blessing..they lend some authenticity, but you can't really see very well. All in all, I would do this tour over the standard tour, but wish they would add mor...
