The DuPont Environmental Education Center is located at the 212-acre Russell W. Peterson Urban Wildlife Refuge in Wilmington, where the city, river and marsh meet. The center opened in 2009 and has quickly become a favorite family attraction, thanks to interactive exhibits, free admission and numerous free programs, such as daily nature walks. "I'm not an Art Museum lover, but it was a rainy day and we needed to do something indoors. Although staying in Kennett Square, this museum was easy to get to and came recommended. The fee was $18/person and well worth it. There are various types of art; historical paintings and modern paintings, scu..."lptures, etc. There is a small outdoor sculpture garden as well, and a cafe and outdoor patio. The museum is 2 stories, with the option of stairs or elevators. We spent about 2 hours there and were impressed with the collection.

"If you enjoy history and mansions, this is a place to not be missed. Plan on 2 1/2 hours for a visit here. MAKE A RESERVATION AHEAD OF TIME BY CALLING THE OFFICE OR ON LINE!! The tour starts with a 15 minute movie followed by a mini bus ride to the mansion, home of Alfred Dupont, one of our countr..."y's greatest philanthropists. The tour takes about 75 minutes and it is a small group personal tour, not a walk through with a tape machine and dozens of people. There were four in our group and the guide was excellent. You visit every room and the narration is fascinating. Following the house tour you reboard the bus for a trip around the grounds with a stop at the gardens. They allow about 25-30 minutes for you to tour the gardens, after which you are driven back to the office. No big souvenir shop here or restaurant.
