This was refreshing compared to the beaches we are used to on the Gulf Coast. We also were pleased that almost every road that ran perpendicular to the beach has free public access and parking for the beach. We were expecting coarse dark sand but were pleasantly surprised that the sand was just as soft as beaches on the gulf coast. The only difference was some areas look like they were sprinkled with pepper. When we got to the beach around 11AM on our first day it must have been high tide because the water was probably 50 yards from the parking area.
