"While visiting St. Simons Island, don't miss this! The displays at the base of the lighthouse are very well done and very interesting. The climb to the top is worth the beautiful views of the surrounding area. We were lucky enough to have the place almost to ourselves, but as we left a tour bus pu..."lled up and it got considerably busier as we were leaving. The stairwell is not large and traffic goes both up and down the same set of stairs, so try to hit this when you don't see busses around!
If you aren't in the greatest of shape, there are landings every so often with views to enjoy while you catch your breath for a moment.

Also here you will find wonderful historical exhibits & artifacts from the 1700s found there on site! Here you will also find souvenirs, books & snacks to purchase. Take time to watch the short, but informative movie about Fort Frederica before moving on to the grounds. And don't forget the map f...
