"We had heard about the tour of the Kokomo Opalescent Glass factory for many years, but did not take the tour until this past fall. It was an amazing tour. They showed us how they make glass sheets; we were impressed that a lot of the work is done manually. We also saw how they blow glass objects,..." work with glass to make many of the various gifts, and heard the story of thier history in Kokomo. After the tour, we had a much better appreciation of the items that they have in the gift shop. I work with stained glass as a hobby and have visited KOG many times to buy glass, but now I have a finer appreciation of the glass that I have been using. This tour is worth the drive to Kokomo !

"This tour is wonderful and only was $5. Our tour guide was one of the glass artists, Dave. We walked within 20 feet of the glass melting furnace, watched the men throw the glass on the machine that presses the glass into sheets, watched the glass blowers, walked through the historic buildings, saw..." the glass artists at work... We were close up and able to ask as many questions as we liked. A complete and personal tour by knowledgeable, friendly people.
They have a lovely gift shop and also offer classes. A free piece of art glass (2 x3) is part of the tour and you get to choose. It was not only informative, but fun. We plan to go back and take one or more of the classes. The first class is making a sun-catcher. There is even a glass-blowing class.
Note: They have restrictions for going on the tour. No walkers or oxygen and you must wear non-canvas fully-enclosed shoes. You are in a rustic manufacturing facility and warehouse. It is for your own safety. They have details on...

"If you are interested in history and glass this is a perfect tour. It's not safe for small children that don't listen and stay put. But it is a fun place to see glass being made into beautiful items. The shop has lot's of fun things to buy as well. I highly recommend this tour!"
