Visit the Harlow Gallery in the heart of historic Hallowell on the Kennebec River, home to the Kennebec Valley Art Association) The KVAA has been promoting the arts and artists of central Maine since 1958. We are a membership-based 501(c)3 non-profit currently serving over 300 members. We value and encourage all artists, and art for all ages, believing that everyone can benefit from the arts. Come see our latest art exhibition when you visit Hallowell! At the Harlow, we strive to present a broad and inclusive selection of the art being created in Maine today; art by promising or under-appreciated artists; art from a range of approaches, disciplines, and subject matter, including political or contemporary art that some may find challenging; and shows that have the potential to appeal to new audience (recent examples would be exhibitions dealing with issues of domestic violence, mental illness, global warming, and our society’s love affair with the automobile). Besides art exhibitions, we present monthly ArtTalks, plus arts workshops and classes and other special events of interest to artists and art lovers.

"Loved the Antique Mall--great buys. Slates bakery has the best breads, cakes, pies and cookies!! Loved walking down the street and looking in the different stores. The river is so peaceful. People are so friendly and helpful."
"Loved all of it! The charm of the small towns, the people and how warm & friendly they were, the yummy food, the experience of new and different places, rivers, mts., hiking, shopping."
"The Harlow Gallery celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. Under the excellent direction of Deb Fahy and Nancy Barron a visitor to the gallery will find a rotating series of presentations that not only bring big city art to this charming city on the banks of the Kennebec River but also support an..."d nurture local artists. The Gallery also serves as a focal point for local school art programs that develop an up and coming generation of artists and collectors. Worth a trip if you are looking for excellent art in places other than the Coast of Maine.
The Harlow is situated downtown and diverse food and shopping is immediately available.
