"Wonderful gourmet picnic in the enchanted forest. Beautiful spot with table and chairs set among huge camphor trees. Kids received their own picnic lunch and blanket. A lovely touch was that a sweet treat was hidden in a nearby tree stump for the kids to discover with a treasure map! Expansive groun..."ds to explore and a great playground, too. Kids happy and parents can enjoy the wine and food!

"I took a full day tour with John yesterday that ran from 9:30am to 5:00pm, and I was very impressed with the company's organization and with John himself as a guide. He not only knows wines but also is able to explain a lot of things about the history of South Africa. The winemakers were all very pleasant and informative and they all had great quality product. Lunch was at a lovely place called "The Long Table" and I had a hard time keeping from overeating! As I had also expressed an interest in sampling local cheese and olives, John was happy to accommodate this as well and I was able to bring some good local stuff back with me. I did only buy one bottle of wine on site but upon asking at check in, I learned that you are allowed to bring up to 6 bottles through domestic security as carry-on. I will be back with my "better half" in th...

"Highly recommended to visit if you're on a winery tour in Somerset West. Its much more than a vinyard & winery. The stately mansions in Cape Dutch architecture, grand gardens and magnificent ancient oak & camphor trees are attractions themselves. The 300-year old homestead mansion of the former o..."wners is now a museum open to visitors, with the old furniture, wall tapestries & portraits still there. See the ancient 300-year old tree across the stream that has grown into its own grove with a cave-like entrance. Food at the restaurant is very good and pheasant birds walk freely among tables.
