"Really liked this place. It was very well done and the exhibits were very interesting! They had a nice mixture of active things to do and some real lizards, snakes etc… I especially liked the giant crystal and interactive earth/moon exhibit. "
"I first found this hike on trip advisor and thought it would be a fun activity with the family. We had a wonderful experience and would highly recommend. The staff at the visitors center were so nice and informative. The visitor guide took time to talk with each of our kids and gave them some pos..."ters and showed them briefly around the center.
The walk was fairly easy but it is uphill with a few steep inclines. Proper footwear is a must as the roads are gravel. Make sure you have enough water for the hike as well, as there is no water on trail. It was a nice suprise to see the natural benches built in along the way for a quick rest.
The highlight is the historical ruins at the top of the trail. We enjoyed learning the history of the early century resort.

We camped in one of the ten "wild" camping spaces available. It is important to note these are fi..."rst come first serve camping spots and, cannot be reserved. We camped on a Wednesday and were only 1 of 3 camping that evening.
Words cannot explain the true beauty of this place. Standing on top of the dunes was awe inspiring and makes you feel as if you are all alone in the vastness of this dessert jewel.
The kids and parents had a wonderful time and watching the sun set and rise and is a moment I will never forget. The only reason I rated this a four is because we were told it would be a easy hike for us to the camp site only .7 miles. We are very active family and this hike was difficult! Give yourself time and pack light.... Walking in sand is challenging even for the very fi...
