However, as I had planned to take a glass bottomed boat trip to Blue Bay Marine Park to snorkel, and we were living in Mont Choisy up north-west, we decided to take a day trip down to Mahebourg to see what was available...", make the necessary reservations, etc. We took the road through Port Louis (beware - traffic seems to be dreadful there at all times!). We found the Mauritians to be such friendly people, always willing to help. There were vendors at the beach that could undertake various excursions. Blue Bay is really magnificent, and I think snorkeling or diving there must be excellent. However, on our day visit to Mahebourg, we obviously also had to make use of the public toilet facilities there. These were absolutely atrocious! One toilet had no door, another toilet door was closed and out of order, and the only other toilet had a door which had to be held closed for you by the next person, while ... " More >

  "Good variaty of fish -take underwater cameras - kodak sport for £7 works ok for me. water is not too deep so ok for teenagers, not kids."
