This was the highlight of our trip. The collection supports Mexican artists. Nothing antique here but incredible talent on display. Playful yet serious. This has to be one of the best private art collections in the world. Seriously.

Unique experience in Valladolid, and probably on any of your trips - visit a bee farm, and bees that you can get up close without wearing any protective gear!

Also the staff were incredibly kind and went above and beyond. I left my backpack behind, and then drove 2 hours to Tulum before realising. They moved heaven and earth to find a solution to send my backpack to me in the following days, which I was very grateful for!

There's also lodgings and restaurant on-site.

if going here don't book rental property: Casa con dos albercas con patio rodeado de naturaleza 202A C. 27 Santa LucĂa, 202A, Valladolid, Mexico, 97782. Owner won't give access. The Cenote is very good though.

This cenote is completely underground. The cavern has not caved in. The cavern is full of stalactites and stalagmites, some as old as 500,000 years. The tour of the site was very interesting. We got a chance to actually swim in the cenote and surprisingly the water was not super cold. It was actually quite refreshing. It felt at times like a spiritual experience. There is an option to actually be served a meal in the cave. The people running the site are determined to preserve it. They limit the number of visitors that can be there at one time. I highly recommend visiting this particular cenote.

Valladolid nestled in between Tulum and Merida and (at least in my prior perception) is somewhat overlooked town in the Yucatan Peninsula. ( Its Spanish counterpart does seem to take more spotlight). I only chose to stay here to use it as a base point to travel to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam. Was I wrong. Valladolid is magical place; quaint place, yet place simultaneously bustling with excitement.
Roughly a 1.5 km from its Central Plaza lies Covent de San Bernardino de Siena. The convent was constructed in the 16th century. It features the church, the convent museum, and outside area containing a cenote used by monks as a water source. While the museum is interesting, the most impressive part was a night-time lightshow projecting on the convent.
The light show starts at 9 pm for a Spanish version and 9.25/9.30 for an English version. (To my understanding, there is no showing on Monday nights). While at times it is hard to keep up, the show itself is an amazing experience that immerses you into the culture of this town.
Convent is situated at the end of the Calle de Los Frailes, which is bustling with shops and cafes. Plaza around convent provides opportunity for photos and relaxation.

We had a lovely meal. It was a bustling city. It felt like an European city. The park was beautiful. We walked the city. Looked in the dress shops We combined the trip with the pymrids. It was easy transportation from Cancun. The hotels looked quaint. I will love to stay there next time

El Museo de Ropa Etnica de Mexico was a highlight of our visit to Valladolid in January, 2024. The exquisite designs and painstaking labor of the items on display underscores the need to help this organization and these skills survive and thrive. The museum building is a beautifully restored small structure within a short walk from the main square in Valladolid.

We stopped at Hacienda Oxman Cenote as part of a tour with My Quest Concierge having just visited Chichén Itzá in the hot sun for a dip in the cenote to cool down. On arriving we were quickly shown to the changing rooms to prepare ourselves for a swim.

There is a viewing area at the top of the cenote that looks down into the large open limestone hole with deep blue water, vines hanging down and the sun illuminating the inside. One thing I would say is that water shoes are essential as there is a little walk and a lot of steps (around 70) down into the cenote and I would imagine they could be a little slippery with wet people coming out.

Once down in the cenote it really opens up, there are plenty of areas around the water for spectators to stand, watch and take photos. It is incredible! The water is cool but not cold, the sun really does a good job in making it feel warmer. There is a mandatory requirement to wear a life vest as in reality this cenote is a big deep blue hole!

There are wooden steps down into the water or for the more adventurous a rope swing that allows you to enter in style! Just remember to HOLD ON!!!

At the top near the changing rooms there is plenty of options to get a drink or a bite to eat if you are hungry, plus plenty of photo ops with the hacienda itself! Be sure to keep an eye out also as there are plenty of iguanas basking in the sun on walls and the grassed lawn!

it's a little intimidating to see the steps basically going underground at palomitas, but once you get over that you are rewarded by an absolutely stunning sight. Absolutely gorgeous.

This place was AWESOME. Beautiful and not super expensive. They had rappelling and stuff but I’m scared of heights so I didn’t do that. I did get food with them and it was SO good. The people were nice and one of the guys spoke perfect English. It is in the middle of nowhere so that was kind of scary, but it was worth it.

It's quite picturesque and we arrived early enough, at 0930, that we avoided the crowds. Some memorable pictures to make in the more famous of the two cenotes -- though not as impressive as some underground places on the coast. The second one is not so special but worth checking out too since included in the price anyway. We didnt try the food.

Having read mixed reviews of this cenote, I wasn’t sure we were making the right decision to choose this one to visit over others locally however we had a fantastic time and here is the definitive information as of February 2024 for an independent visit to Cenote Saamal (part of the Selva Maya complex).
The entrance is just off the main road so you can be dropped off and picked up by Colectivo minibuses or cars (we paid 40 pesos from Chichen Itza and 25 back to Valladolid).
Walk into the main entrance as directed by the staff and pay your 200 pesos which includes all changing facilities and (open) showers, lockers and a life jacket. There are souvenir shops , a bar and a restaurant and you can buy a package deal to include meals and drinks.
Head to the changing room. Grab a locker key (lost key charge will be 300 pesos) Shower to wash off any sunscreen or insect repellant and then collect your life jacket. This means you can get down to the lower platforms even if you don’t want to swim.
Photographers can get to a viewing platform without a life jacket.
The sun disappeared from the water approximately 3pm so I’d advise arriving in time to enjoy the effect of the sun on the water, the increased visibility in the water and the effects created on the rocks and through the waterfall.
We had a wonderful time in the water which is chilly on entry but pleasant enough to stay in for 20 minutes or more.
Adventure seekers can jump in from a platform if they so wish!
