"If you wish to see the craftsmen working on the hardest wood on the west coast you have to go Monday-Thursday. There is a short 10 minutes video describing the process from tree to final product. There is a gift store and you can sample the fudge. Northern CA, southern OR and the Holy land are the o..."nly areas where these trees grow. The are easy to carve and have a range of beautiful colors. Before you complain about the prices, watch the craftsmen working and realize how long it takes to make a bowl, fork or other piece. I noticed the professional RV caravan tour companies all list the Oregon Connection as one of the prime stops when they visit Coos Bay. So, I figured they must know what they are doing. Stop and see craftsmen at work and try some fudge, bet you can't eat just one.

"By all counts this is the spot to visit in Coos Bay area. Be aware that they close one of the trails for a few weeks when the sea lions give birth; however, you can still see them if you are creative. There is a north and south trail and neither are a problem negotiating. Be aware of the wind on this..." part of the coast and dress in layers. Beautiful wave action that rivals the CA Monterey Coast to some extent. Nice picnic area. this park is very close to shore Acres and makes a nice full day visit to the two top spots in Coos Bay area. Shell Island is the sea Lion refuse and it is located from the north cove trail. The south cove trail leads to tide pools. The park is about 16 miles out on the point from Coos Bay. Free access, bathrooms and picnic tables.

"The gardens are beautiful and that in itself is reason to go to Shore Acres. However, the views of the ocean, the cliffs and the rocks below are spectacular! I loved being there on a very stormy day and watching the waves break onto the cliffs and the spray coming up over the top. Wear a good waterp..."roof jacket with a hood!
