The Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery, established in 1861, is the first commercial pretzel bakery in America. As of August 2007, the site is under new ownership. The bakery and store have been completely renovated and are now operated once again by the Sturgis family. Visitors can tour the original pretzel bakery, see soft pretzels being made by hand, and find pretzels baked by the oldest pretzel baking family in the United States.

"It was our Mother's Day tradition to go to Lititz...which always included a stop at Wilbur. When our kids were small, we would go down the road to Staufer's of Kissel Hill (a large store that sells groceries, amish treats, plants, crafts, and has a fun hot food bar) buy food from the hot bar and tak..."e it to the park in Lititz next to Wilbur for a picnic. With children all grown, we opt for lunch at Tomato Pie (across from Wilbur) and then hit Wilbur! the chocolate is fantastic and beats Hershey by a mile. Wilbur is a small store-factory-"museum" (and I use the word loosely) that is always full and sells delicious chocolate treats. Their "basic" is the Wilbur Bud..samples always available! Do not go with a tour/museum in mind...just buy candy! Lititz on a whole has a lovely main street with cute shops and a terrific used book store (Aaron's) where you can easily lose some time. "The Wolf Sanctuary is excellent! The wolves are beautiful....and very impressive. The staff was very knowledgeable! It is best to see the wolves in the winter we their fur is full and the trees aren't full of leaves...making hiding spots.

"The visit to the Sturgis Pretzel House Factory was very interesting and our guide was great. She was very knowledgeable and showed us all how to twist our own pretzel.
The town of Litiz is full of history and the homes and museum was great. Would have like to stayed longer in the town."
