"This was our first visit to Botany Bay Plantation and it was a beautiful day trip during our Edisto vacation. My mom does not get around walking long distances, and the driving tour offered a cool and interesting option, that could be enjoyed by us all in the heat of the day. Oh and it is actually ..."free!
The tour is a very enjoyable, leisurely drive. You end up driving pretty slowly and taking your time to see everything.
The miles of moss covered oaks are lovely, and the free guide, with the marker information is very informative. You can choose to get out and walk around at the marked areas, or whenever something catches your eye if you like.
We investigated some marshy areas with the kids, that were home to hundreds of little crabs, and checked out the marsh reeds that seemed to have dozens of little snails lining each reed.

"We visited Botany Bay and did the driving tour. There is alot of history mixed with unparalleled views and abundant wildlife. Definately worth a visit! Plus its free! Make sure you bring a camera!"
"We walked around the state park earlier in the day with trails then decided to go to the beach park around 5pm to cool off since it was included in the fee we already paid. I would go back to this beach again. It was very clean & quiet!"
