"Within the past few years, the entire interior and exterior of the Tennessee Theatre has been re-done and elevated to its Grand Dame status as one of the most beautiful theatrical venues in the United States. Complete with the original Wurlitzer organ, this theatre is always a treat to visit. Whethe..."r it's free organ concerts at lunch time, or full scale productions such as Bali Hai, it is a remarkable experience to walk through the doors and step back in time. The recent rennovation also increased the stage and fly area to accommodate full scale productions. This theatre is also the official state theatre of Tennessee.

"All of the above are just a few of the adjectival descriptions that can be used when talking about Market Square. This place is a vibrant venue in the heart of downtown Knoxville. Every Wednesday, Saturday and most Friday evenings and Sundays, there is something new and exciting for every age. From ..."Farmer's Markets carrying the most fresh of all local veggies, fruits and breads, to artisans and craftspersons displaying and selling their wares, to musical offerings, opera, movies, plays and concerts, to ice skating in the winter, water park for the youngsters, avant garde sculptures and displays in the lower park area, a gentle brook with water falls, all surrounded by bustling and thriving business that include restaurants, bars, clothing boutiques, law firms, loft apartments, the TVA headquarters, banks, hobby and craft shops, furniture and art stores and the list goes on. This is definitely the heart and the heart beat of downtown Knoxville ... where something is ALWAYS happening!

"Old City in Knoxville is one of those places where you can feel the vibe of the past if you stop to listen. What's great about this place is that new businesses are moving into the original old buildings and rennovating them instead of tearing them down, thus preserving the heritage and vibe of the ..."past. Walking down the alleyways and looking up and down for architectural quirks of interest is one of my favorite past times. Whether it's touring the rail cars at the nearby former railway depot, visiting Historic Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, lunching at the Urban Cafe or shucking oysters at the Crown and Goose, every turn of the road or sidewalk is certain to give you a historic feel for this part of downtown Knoxville.
