A very cool engineering marvel, almost 18 miles long. It’s a bridge at some parts and a tunnel at others. Scenic drive over Chesapeake Bay. Easy to navigate. Pleasant drive. Only one lane each direction in the tunnels, so cars could get backed up. There is a scenic overlook prior to getting on the bridge at one end that is worth a quick stop. It’s a worthwhile trip.

This Virginia State Park is at the southern end of the Virginia eastern shore, just north of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge/Tunnel. Gas, groceries, etc., are available not far from the park entrance. The park has cabins (really small homes, not rustic at all) with everything you need and camping. There are numerous trails going through forest and marshes. The area is a prime bird migration zone for the Atlantic coast and is popular with birders.

We took the tunnels bridge heading north, and stopped at the visitor center, then went to Cape Charles, and strolled along and shopped. Of three of us. One of us needed to use an electric scooter and got around quite fine, but you cannot get into all the shops because of limited space. It’s nice and quiet this time of year and a Pier as wheelchair accessible. We had dinner at the marina and it was very good and there was outdoor seating and a great sunset. Also wheelchair accessible.

A small museum away from all the traffic. Nice place to take a walk. A stop over for butterflies before they cross the Chesapeake Bay.

Stopped by on a Saturday. The sign said Closed, but the door was open. Jan told us to go on in. He shared the history of the town and its establishment for shipping goods via rail. He even fired up the scale locomotive that runs on compressed air. He shared details about photos on the wall, a bit about his background as a NASA engineer, and more. He also fired up one of the old Diesel engines that was used to supplement power to the town during peak loads.

    Definitely worth a short stop.

Enjoyed our visit with Jan and his dog Annie.

An awesome brewery! The staff was warm and welcoming! We were offered samples and suggestions were made. We sat in the beautiful venue and enjoyed a freshly baked pretzel with our beverages. An enjoyable evening! We will return!

There is not much to see, but reading the story of Bacon's Rebellion was interesting representing a bit of American history that is not well known. If you are a history buff and in the area, reading the story on line before visiting makes it worth a quick stop.

Lovely small town and beautiful beach. The gentle waves, gorgeous views and salty water ensured that we did not miss the ocean. We enjoyed the shops and restaurants, especially the Shanty and Oyster Farm Seafood. We will be back and likely rent again at the outstanding Bay Creek resort.

This is a nice welcome center with lots of information on the Eastern shore as well as other areas of VA, DE, and the outer banks. There are picnic tables for a lunch stop and hiking is available from the parking lot in the next door nature reserve. The trails are level and well maintained. Those with mobility issues should be OK for these trails. The trails are also short enough to make this a perfect stop to get some exercise.

We stayed here in our Motorhome for 2 nights, you can stay here for up to 48 hours so this is also a good over nigh stop it you are passing through.

Nice for a short visit if you have some time while at Cape Charles. Like someone else said there is a problem with Google Maps do NOT turn on Bayshore Go to next right on Patrick Henry and go past Fuji Film parling lot. There are two boardwalks - one to the left (when facing the sign for the preserve) that is visible - this goes over the marsh and has no other views. The other boardwalk is accessible from the trail that is to the right when facing the sign (the trailhead itself is not marked and can be a little hard to spot). A little way into the trail the boardwalk starts and then leads (on the right) to a beautiful view of the bay. The construction from the industrial area right next to the preserve can be pretty loud and is something of an eyesore; still the view at the end is lovely.

The Ellen Moore gallery is a wonderful place to visit. We came upon it while strolling in Cape Charles and found ourselves surrounded by beautiful art work. Ellen, the owner, is a lovely woman who was welcoming, engaging and interesting. We purchased a necklace which is unique and just beautiful. You will enjoy your visit -- and you will likely find a lovely gift for yourself of someone special.
