If you are interested in history, make sure you visit the Rothschild's house. The home sits at the top of the bluff overlooking Port Townsend and bay. It was built in 1868 ..."by local merchant D.C.H. Rothschild. His family owned and lived in the home until 1954 when Emilie Rothschild, daughter of the builder, passed away. There were few changes made to the home over the 86 years the Rothschilds' lived there. The only major renovation occured in 1914 when Rothschild's widow finally agreed to have a bathroom installed in the home, replacing the outhouse. Still, the home has never had hot running water. You always hear about whale watching tours where you see no whales, this was definitely not the case here. We seen a family of Orcas just a little over an hour into the tour.
