"We rented Polaris 600 Trail snowmobiles from Minocqua Sports Rental for 2 days in February. Their rates were reasonable (minus the "fuel charge"), considering they're located in a popular tourist area of Wisconsin. The staff were friendly and both sleds were in good working order. The shop was lo..."cated right across from the trail, so getting to and from the shop was a breeze....
The only real complaint we had was the increasingly popular practice of charging a "fuel charge", which amounted to about $50, in addition to the regular 2 day rental fee (you return the sled "empty", but that never happens, unless you don't mind the risk of running dry on the trail somewhere--thus the shop always comes out ahead on this deal).... I know gas prices are very high these days, but that's the new normal; and i realize that equipment rental places sometimes get burned by people not topping off their tanks...... "We go to Minocqua every summer and Wildwood is a must at least once or twice in our 10 day vacation. I have been going here for over 20 years and each year there is something new and exciting. This year I hear they are opening a new Africa area complete with Giraffes. I won't be able to keep my wife..." away. Don't get me wrong my kids and I love it too but my wife is crazy about Wildwood. No trip to minocqua would be complete with out a visit to Wildwood. As far as the price, I think it is fair when you think about all of the animals that need to be fed all year and Wildwood is only open maybe half of that time, and I would not want to pay the heating bill to keep all the animals warm through a cold northern Wisconsin winter. With or without kids Wildwood is a must see.
