Historic sites once covered much of the Kona Coast and these treasured places promote understanding of Hawaii’s heritage. The seven miles of Alii Drive, along the shoreline connecting Historic Kailua Village to Keauhou, generally follows the ancient route of the ala loa foot trail that evolved over time as a road. Four of the seven ancient Royal Centers in use in Kona are located on what is now called Alii Drive.
There are dozens of Points of Interest and Scenic Stops along the route. Discover Hawaii’s history on the Royal Footsteps Along the Kona Coast Hawaii Scenic Byway.

"Captains Glen and Seth and Jessica, were knowledgeable, funny and full of fun facts. My family of 6 had a fantastic time and would recommend this experience, with this crew, anytime! Swam with dolphins and with a child that doesn't swim very well, they provided noodles and boards as well. And the..." pineapple for snack was delish! Wish I could have that everyday!

"In addition to scouring reviews (I'm sure you're wondering if you should go with Paradise or Blue Hawaiian), Paradise was also highly recommended by our hotel, The Four Seasons Hualalai.
Everything from start to finish was great with Paradise. I spoke with their offices the week before about wea..."ther and the differences between the tours - office personnel were very knowledgeable and friendly. Office and ground crew were great, our pilot was AMAZING! It was my husband's 40th birthday and he was lucky enough to get seated next the pilot in front.
We did the Valley Landing trip which was amazing. I felt safe the entire time and everyone was given ample time to see everything from both sides of the chopper. Seeing flowing lava (at the crater and ocean) was a lifetime experience.
The entire trip was perfect and I highly recommend Paradise!

"We did the dolphin swim with Captain Mike and Danielle. They were both great and the dolphin swim was amazing. We were able to snorkel and swim above and along side a pod of about 25-30 dolphins including a mom and baby. After the dolphin swimming me they took us to a bay to do some of the best s..."norkeling we have seen on our trip to Hawaii (both Kauai and Big Island.).
I would definitely recommend this trip as a full family activity!
