Walking through the Puppet Museum is an adventurous journey, where the guests encounter diverse fascinating characters in every nook and cranny of the transformed old warehouses. The puppets are displayed through a series of imaginative and theatrical installations, each capturing the feeling of the stories which the puppets sprung to life from. The museum is very interactive and gives the guests a chance to try out an array of different puppet manipulation styles.

HÚSAFELL IS A HIKER’S DREAM. Fascinating walking routes are everywhere, with something new at every turn. Dense woods, lava formations, crystal-clear mountain springs, magnificent ravines, glaciers, rushing glacial rivers and an extraordinary animal and bird life. Remarkable ancient relics and other signs of human habitation serve to illustrate the past and the relationship between man and nature.

The swimming pool in Húsafell is one of the most popular recreations in the area. It was originally built in 1965 but since the pool and its surroundings have been renovated greatly. There are two swimming pools, as well as two hut tubs, along with a water slide.

The fairways of the golf course lie beside the banks of the rivers Kaldá and Stuttá. There the golfer has to be meticulous because the water is close to the fairways and in many places the forest is also close by. The first tee is below a swimming pool. Golf course fees are paid in the house where the swimming pool is entered.

"This is a great little museum! A wonderful overview of the history and sagas of Iceland which gave us a great foundation as we move on with out adventure. Knowing some of the sagas definitely put a little bit of magic into the land...
The museum is split into 2 audio guided tours- each 30 minutes..."- so it's a great little break between the Peninsula and Reykjavik.
Note: There's some creepy life-sized Saga characters in dim-lit rooms... They definitely creeped me out so beware if you have little kids prone to nightmares! ;)

"I got to the place together with a big group, who apparently had not contacted the center beforehand to let them know we were coming. The staff was very professional and effective, and recommended that everyone ordered the fish-soup, so we could be served at once at the tables. Some ordered other th..."ings, but most had the fish-soup. It was good, and the bread lovely. I would have liked a little vegetables in it myself, but all in all, very nice! And the selection of cakes was wonderful, and so was the flavor!
The center itself had a good exhibition with info about the first settlers of Iceland, very informative. There was a little souvenir-shop, with lovely things to bring home.
I really enjoyed it there, and just the food was worth the trip!

"Museum, shop, cafe
Museum - The first audio guided tour (basically a history of Iceland) is fascinating; well worth taking. The second....ho hum, gets a teeny bit boring unless you're really into the ins and outs of the Icelandic sagas. And trying to fast forward the audio guide doesn't help, i..."t just switches to another language and starts back at the beginning again! So if you haven't got a lot of time, forget the second half.
Shop - Some lovely things, all aimed at tourists of course, but excellent quality. The museum/shop lady was lovely, very friendly and spoke remarkably fluent English, even better than the good English most Icelanders seem to effortlessly switch into.
Cafe - WOW. Seriously wow. It's a help-yourself buffet or a choice of specials on the blackboard and everything was absolutely delicious. The bread was sublime.
